Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) Scholarship 2025 – Now Open. International students now have the opportunity to pursue fully funded graduate studies at one of South Korea’s leading research institutions—Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST). Applications are open for the Fall 2025 intake, offering scholarships for Master’s, Ph.D., and Integrated M.S.–Ph.D. programs.

GIST provides full scholarships for the following graduate programs:
- Master of Science (M.S.)
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
- Integrated M.S.–Ph.D.
Medium of Instruction: English
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Open to all nationalities except Korean citizens with dual nationality
- Must hold (or expect to hold) a final degree by the first week of July 2025
- Must meet GIST’s English language requirements if from a non-English-speaking country
English Language Requirements
Applicants must submit one of the following scores:
- TOEFL iBT: 80 | TOEFL PBT: 550
- IELTS: 6.5
- TOEIC: 750
- TEPS (New): 285
Conditional admission is available for applicants who provide a certificate of English as the Medium of Instruction (EMI) from their previous institution. However, they must submit an official English proficiency test score within six months of enrollment.

1. Tuition & Enrollment
- Full tuition waiver: ₩3,607,000 per semester
- Matriculation fee: ₩680,000 (may be waived)
2. Monthly Financial Support
- M.S. Students: ₩140,000/month
- Ph.D. Students: ₩295,000/month
- Meal allowance: ~₩100,000/month (for students with 9+ credits in the previous semester)
- International student allowance: ₩120,000/month (for students with a GPA ≥ 3.0/4.5)
3. Research Assistantship
- M.S.: ₩6,400,000/year
- Ph.D.: ₩13,740,000/year
4. Accommodation
- Dormitory fees range from ₩80,000 to ₩140,000/month
- Married student apartments available from ₩125,000/month (utility costs and deposits apply)
5. Health & Travel Support
- 60% of National Health Insurance covered
- Annual medical check-up provided
- Round-trip flight tickets for new international students
