FUTA student reportedly dies by suicide; At an off-campus lodge in Akure, Olona Oluwapelumi, a third-year student at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), is said to have killed himself.
Joseph, a former student of FUTA’s Department of Industrial Design, is said to have committed himself by hanging himself for unknown reasons, including depression and financial hardship.
According to reports, his close pals went to his apartment early on Saturday morning and found it locked; they eventually had to break down the door after making numerous unsuccessful phone calls.
It was learned that the body of the student, known as “Black,” was hanging in the room when the friends entered.
The late Joseph was described as a cheerful and amiable man who never argued or engaged in physical conflict with any of his neighbors by some of his neighbors who wished to remain anonymous.
One of the neighbors claimed that it was found that the deceased’s Facebook page, which belonged to the entrepreneur who produced designer clothing under the name “Tart Angle,” featured a message about suicide.
He claimed that several of the deceased’s posts were requests for financial assistance so that he could continue to operate his business.
His Facebook post on October 8, 2022, according to the neighbor, stated: “Suicide kinda answers all, it’s the only thing that listens and trusts you when you left all by yourself. Goodbye and good night.
The student’s death has not yet been the subject of an official declaration from FUTA officials.
The student’s body had been placed at a mortuary, according to Funmi Odunlami-Omisanya, the Ondo police spokesman, who also announced that an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death would shortly begin.
