FUTA Issues Public Warning Against Admission Scams; The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has alerted the general public—especially candidates seeking admission—about the activities of fraudsters impersonating university officials and promising fake admission slots.
According to the university, these impostors have been sending text messages and posting on social media, claiming they can influence or manipulate the results of the Post-UTME Screening Exercise in favour of interested candidates. They also demand large sums of money, directing candidates to call specific phone numbers and deposit payments into private bank accounts.
Fake Admission Promises Are Pure Scam
FUTA emphasizes that these claims are entirely false and are orchestrated by scammers attempting to extort unsuspecting candidates, parents, and guardians.
The university stressed that no individual—inside or outside the institution—can alter, influence, or manipulate Post-UTME results or the admission process. All admissions into FUTA are processed strictly through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Admissions Are Merit-Based and Fully Protected
FUTA reaffirmed that its admission process is merit-driven, transparent, and insulated from manipulation or malpractice of any kind.
Public Advisory
The university advises all prospective students and the general public to:
- Disregard any messages or posts promising special admission slots
- Avoid making payments into private accounts for admission purposes
- Report suspicious activities to appropriate authorities
FUTA also stated that it will not be responsible for any financial losses incurred by individuals who choose to engage with these fraudsters.
