FUHSO Governing Council Confirms Appointment of New Deputy Vice Chancellors; The 3rd Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), at its 3rd Regular Meeting held on 15th September 2025, confirmed the appointment of two new Deputy Vice Chancellors of the University.

Professor Godwin Friday Okibe was appointed as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic).
Professor Omaile Cecilia Ojabo was appointed as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration).

These appointments were confirmed by the Governing Council following their earlier selection by the University Senate.

Legal Backing of the Appointments

The process was carried out pursuant to the provisions of Section 4 of the First Schedule of the University Law (2022). In line with the law, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Francis Aba Uba, nominated both candidates to the Senate for consideration, which subsequently resulted in their confirmation.

Commitment to Academic Excellence and Administrative Efficiency

The ratification of these appointments, which took place at the Governing Council meeting held at the Otada Campus, reflects FUHSO’s continuous commitment to strengthening academic excellence and administrative efficiency in pursuit of its vision to become a leading centre for health education and research in Nigeria.

Professor Okibe, an accomplished scholar and researcher, will provide leadership in academic policy formulation, curriculum development, and research innovation.
Professor Ojabo, a distinguished medical practitioner and administrator, will oversee institutional governance, operational management, and staff welfare.
