Wizkid has joined forces with Brent Faiyaz for his latest single, “Piece of My Heart,” released on Friday (Oct. 18). The track serves as the lead single from Wizkid’s highly anticipated sixth studio album, Morayo, which is set to drop on Nov. 22 under Starboy/Sony Music International/RCA Records.
The collaboration follows a recent sighting of the two artists together in London, where Wizkid teased a snippet of the song on Instagram. The smooth, heartfelt lyrics highlight Faiyaz in the chorus: “Nothing can tear us apart/ You’ve got a piece of my heart/ Nothing can tear us apart (Nothing in this world)/ You’ve got a piece of my heart (That belongs to you girl).”
Wizkid’s collaborations this year include “MMS” with Asake from Lungu Boy and “Work Me Out” with Shenseea from her sophomore album Never Gets Late Here. Brent Faiyaz, on the other hand, has kept his collaborative work minimal in 2024, with a notable appearance on “Should’ve Wore a Bonnet” alongside 21 Savage from his American Dream album.
Despite their relatively few partnerships this year, Wizkid and Faiyaz share a history of working with similar artists, such as Don Toliver. Both featured on his 2023 album Love Sick—Wizkid on “Slow Motion” and Faiyaz on “Bus Stop.” Additionally, both artists are linked to Tems, with Wizkid’s global hit “Essence” (featuring Tems and later remixed by Justin Bieber) peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Faiyaz also teamed up with Tems on “Found,” which reached No. 17 on the Hot R&B Songs chart.
Wizkid’s upcoming album Morayo (a Yoruba word meaning “I see joy”) follows his 2022 release More Love, Less Ego, which peaked at No. 59 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the World Albums chart.
