The Management of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has announced the immediate and indefinite suspension of all activities of the Student Union Government (SUG) on the Nsukka Campus. This decision was reached during an Emergency Meeting of the University Management held on Friday, September 26, 2025.
According to the Administration, the action became necessary following the circulation of conflicting media publications concerning the affairs of the Union. The University noted that these reports contain allegations capable of disrupting peace, order, and the harmonious academic environment the institution strives to maintain.
Effective immediately, all SUG-led gatherings, meetings, and activities are prohibited. Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor has set up a committee to investigate the crisis and allegations surrounding the Students’ Union leadership. The committee is expected to submit its findings within the shortest possible time.
During this interim period, the Dean of Student Affairs will oversee all essential student welfare matters.
The University appeals to all students to remain calm, law-abiding, and focused on their academic work, while assuring them of Management’s commitment to peace and stability on campus.
