The Management of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has announced a two-week postponement of the resumption date for the 2025/2026 academic session.
This decision was reached during the meeting of the Committee of Provosts and Deans held on Friday, October 31, 2025, where members reviewed the earlier resumption date initially scheduled for Monday, November 3, 2025.
Revised Resumption Date
Following the deliberations, the Committee resolved to shift the resumption date to Monday, November 17, 2025, to allow the university adequate time to complete the ongoing admission process and ensure a smooth transition into the new academic session.
Official Statement
The University Management expressed regret over any inconvenience caused by the change in schedule, emphasizing that the decision was taken in the best interest of students, parents, and staff.
According to the statement, the postponement will enable the institution to finalise admissions, conclude necessary preparations, and maintain the standard of academic excellence the university is known for.

UNIPORT’s management appealed for the understanding and cooperation of all stakeholders as it works to ensure a seamless start to the 2025/2026 academic year.
