UNILAG Ranks 1st in Nigeria in 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026 has placed the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as the number one university in Nigeria, reaffirming its reputation as a leading institution of higher learning in the country.
The latest ranking, released on Thursday, October 9, 2025, shows UNILAG sharing the 1st position in Nigeria with the University of Ibadan (UI), both within the 801–1000 global ranking band out of 2,191 institutions worldwide.
Covenant University and Bayero University, Kano (BUK) followed closely, ranking within the 1001–1200 band globally.

Outside Nigeria, UNILAG shares the 801–1000 range with globally recognized universities such as:
