Uber has officially launched a simplified version of its app tailored for seniors, following a successful pilot program in Phoenix and Orlando. The feature, which includes larger text, fewer on-screen steps, and easy access to frequent destinations such as home and medical offices, is now rolling out across the United States.
This senior-friendly interface is part of Uber’s ongoing effort to improve accessibility and usability for older adults who may find traditional app designs too complex or visually overwhelming.
What’s New in Uber’s Senior Interface?
The updated interface, known as Simple Mode, is designed to reduce confusion and streamline the booking process. Key features include:Larger, clearer fonts for easier reading
Minimal navigation steps to book a ride
Quick access to favorite or commonly used locations
Users can activate the simplified view in two ways:Through Uber’s Family Profile: A family member can invite an older adult to join their profile, selecting the “Senior” option during the process. Once accepted, the senior’s account will automatically switch to the simplified version.
Direct Activation by the User: Seniors can also enable Simple Mode themselves by navigating to the Uber app’s Account > Settings > Accessibility > Simple Mode.Why This Matters
