The dating app is testing a new feature that gets to know you through your photos.
Tinder is experimenting with an AI-powered feature called “Chemistry” that analyzes your camera roll to learn more about your interests and personality.
According to the dating app’s parent company, Match Group, this interactive matching tool is designed to reduce swipe fatigue by showing users fewer, but more compatible, potential matches.
The feature requires users to grant permission for Tinder to access their photos. It also prompts users with interactive questions to gather additional insights about their preferences. Match Group describes Chemistry as “a major pillar of Tinder’s upcoming 2026 product experience.”
Currently, the feature is live in New Zealand and Australia, with plans to roll it out to more countries in the coming months.
While Chemistry is opt-in, allowing an app to scan personal photos can feel invasive. Match Group hopes that by integrating AI in this way, Tinder will encourage users to remain active on the platform, especially as the app has faced a decline in paying subscribers for over two years.
