Seven people have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a building along Abuja’s Airport Road on Saturday, with two others currently receiving medical treatment.
The tragic incident occurred as some individuals attempted to salvage materials from the partially demolished structure, which was undergoing demolition by the Federal Capital Development Control due to issues with land documentation.
Abdulrahman Mohammed, acting Director General of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), inspected the site on Sunday, urging the public to avoid entering dangerous, condemned structures.
Although the exact number of people in the building at the time remains unknown, Mohammed assured that FEMA’s rescue team is actively working on site.
