      Hey everyone,

As most of you know, Google is gearing up to release the Pixel 9 series, but there are still some details about the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL that we’re eagerly waiting to uncover, like the exact sizes of the new Pro models.

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro by Google.

We’ve just got a fresh leak giving us the clearest look yet at the colours for this year’s flagship models. According to Android Headlines, the silicone cases for the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will be available in charcoal, porcelain, hazel, and rose. Interestingly, the rumoured aloe colour wasn’t shown—likely because it might be a web-exclusive option.

One design detail worth mentioning is the way the case is sculpted around the camera island. It seems Google has gone for a significant curve, which might reduce the visual impact of the camera bar that’s been a distinctive feature of previous Pixels. The new design has an almost cliff-like drop from the camera island to the back of the case, which could be lost when the phone is cased up. Given how unique the camera bar made the Pixel, this is a bold design choice.

On the display side of things, Steve Hemmerstoffer (a.k.a. Onleaks) has shared new details about the Pixel 9 family. This time, we’re looking at not just two, but three main Pixel phones, including a Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which will be part of the Pixel 9 line. Unlike last year’s Pixel Fold, this one will be integrated into the main lineup, though it’ll still be a niche option due to its foldable design.

That leaves us with the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The key difference between these two will be screen size—6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.8 inches for the Pro XL. It’s important to note that this year, the Pro XL will take on the role of the larger, more powerful device that last year’s Pixel 8 Pro held.

What’s intriguing is the positioning of the Pixel 9 Pro. Unlike the Pixel 8 Pro, it won’t just be a bigger version of the standard model. Instead, it’ll have a smaller form factor while still packing higher specs, catering to those who want flagship performance in a more compact device.

I’m curious to see how the three devices will stack up against each other in terms of sales. While the Pixel 9 Pro might attract a dedicated online fanbase, I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being the weakest seller among the standard Pixel phones.

What do you all think? Will the Pixel 9 Pro find its niche, or will it struggle to stand out in this year’s lineup?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
