Marriage Is a Stupid Step to Take – Nigerian Singer

Nigerian singer and songwriter Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka, popularly known as Chike, has stirred controversy after declaring that, in his view, marriage is “a stupid step.”

The 32-year-old music star made this statement during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo on his WithChude podcast, where he opened up about his personal views, career journey, and outlook on love, money, and happiness.

“In my personal opinion, in fact, I think it’s a stupid step to get married, that’s my opinion,” Chike bluntly stated, emphasizing that he has no plans to walk down the aisle anytime soon.

Despite being famous for his soulful, love-themed songs, the singer admitted that financial stability—not love—is the real foundation of his happiness.

“For me to be happy, to be honest, I need a lot of money. This is not even carnal; I won’t lie to you, I like money. I want money,” he explained.

How Music Became His Career Path
Chike also revealed that music wasn’t always his plan. According to him, he only took it seriously after completing his university education.

“I would say maybe right after my university, I knew music is what I’ll do for a living. I won’t say I knew before, to be honest, because I just used to sing and disturb everybody around me,” he recounted.

The early days of his career were not without struggles. Chike said he faced financial challenges and had to take up acting jobs for about two years just to get by.

“It was a tough part, I even had to start acting for like two years,” he shared.

      A Pattern of Bold Statements
This isn’t the first time the “Boo of the Booless” hitmaker has made unusual remarks about relationships. Back in 2022, Chike admitted he had never said the words “I love you.”

“I get that feeling that if I say it, my bolz would shrink and disappear. Happy I get to sing it though,” he joked at the time.

Fans have often been left puzzled by the disconnect between his romantic lyrics and his real-life stance on love and commitment.
