Got what was coming to him yeah?

A man in Japan, Takashi Miyagawa, 39, has been accused of an elaborate dating scam involving 35 women, all of whom he allegedly misled to receive hundreds of pounds worth of birthday gifts. Miyagawa reportedly gave each of the women different false birthdates, claiming he wanted a serious relationship, and amassed around 100,000 yen (£668) in gifts, including a £200 suit.

Miyagawa’s scheme came to light after the women discovered they had been deceived, forming a victims’ association before reporting him to the police in February. Local media reported that he has now been arrested on suspicion of fraud.

Among the women, one was told his birthday was on 22 February, another that it was in July, and a third believed it was in April, though Miyagawa’s actual birthday is said to be 13 November.

Miyagawa reportedly met these women while working for a marketing company selling hydrogen water shower heads. One of the women recounted her experience, saying that on their second date, Miyagawa kissed her and reassured her that he was serious about their future together, telling her he would stay with her for life.

Photos published by local media show Miyagawa on dates with several women, including images of him receiving birthday cakes inscribed with “Happy Birthday.” The case has stirred considerable attention, with Miyagawa facing the consequences of his alleged dating scam.
