For allegedly defiling his 10-year-old daughter, a lecturer at the Lagos State University of Technology (formerly known as the Lagos State Polytechnic) has been lodged in the Kirikiri Correctional Center.
The yet-to-be-named lecturer was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on defilement and sexual assault by penetration before Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi on Friday, February 3.
The lecturer was detained, according to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), following a tip from a Mandated Reporter on the claim that he had begun engaging in illicit sexual activity with his biological daughter in 2018.
In her testimony, the victim’s mother stated that her husband stopped being intimate with her in 2018 and that every time she tried to bring it up, he would hit her. Further information revealed that the final abuse took place on December 30, 2022.
He refused to enter a plea, and Magistrate Osunsanmi ordered that he be held at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility until the Directorate of Public Prosecutions could provide legal counsel. March 6, 2023 was set as the next date for the lawsuit.
