The Lagos State Government has shut down DONALD Restaurant, a trendy spot in Lekki owned by celebrity nightlife mogul Cubana Chief Priest (Pascal Okechukwu), over serious environmental violations.
The closure came after two of the restaurant’s staff were caught in the act—illegally dumping refuse on the roadside.
According to LAWMA (Lagos Waste Management Authority) boss Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the incident happened early Saturday, May 18, 2025, along Durosimi-Etti Street in Lekki Phase 1. Gbadegesin revealed this via his official handle on X (formerly Twitter).
Thanks to a tip-off from the Lekki Estate Residents Association (LERA), LAWMA officials were alerted to the suspicious activity. A white Ford van with Abuja plates (GWA 136E) was reportedly seen offloading waste at an unauthorized location. The van was quickly traced back to DONALD Restaurant, located on Road 14 inside the estate.
Things escalated when the culprits, caught red-handed by LERA’s Chief Security Officer, allegedly tried to bribe the team with ₦100,000—an offer that was flatly refused.
LAWMA’s enforcement team moved in, took custody of the offenders, and promptly sealed off the restaurant. The agency cited gross environmental violations, breaching the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017.
Gbadegesin confirmed that the suspects would be prosecuted, emphasizing the government’s zero tolerance for illegal waste disposal and environmental abuse.
