The Kwara State Police Command has refuted claims that armed bandits fleeing military offensives in Zamfara State have relocated to Bani town in Kwara.

In a statement on Monday, Police spokesperson SP Ejire-Adeyemi Toun dismissed the reports as false and misleading, emphasizing that there is no intelligence or operational evidence to support the claim.

“The attention of the Kwara State Police Command has been drawn to a report alleging that armed bandits from Zamfara have relocated to Bani town. The Command categorically debunks this claim as false, misleading, and an attempt by mischief makers to incite unnecessary panic among residents,” the statement read.

SP Toun reassured the public that security agencies remain vigilant and have intensified surveillance across the state to prevent any security breaches.

Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, reaffirmed that Kwara remains safe and assured residents of the police force’s readiness to tackle any threats. He urged the public to disregard unverified reports and refrain from spreading misinformation.

For credible security information, residents are encouraged to contact the Kwara State Police Command through its official channels.
