Killer Cop, Vandi, Pleads Not Guilty For The Murder Of Lagos Lawyer, Bolanle Raheem.
Drambi Vandi, the suspended assistant superintendent of police, entered a not-guilty plea to the murder of Raheem Bolanle, a female attorney from Lagos.
The suspended officer was charged with murder on a single count on Monday before the Lagos State High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square Annex. Vandi pled not guilty to the murder accusation after hearing the charge sheet read to him.
” That you ASP Drambi Vandi on the 25th day of December 2022, at Ajah road, along the Lekki Expressway, Lagos, unlawfully killed one Omobolanle Raheem by shooting the deceased in the chest, contrary to section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015,” the charge read.
The accused was charged before Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, who agreed to the Attorney General’s plea to remand the defendant at Ikoyi Correctional Facility.
She also directed that a duplicate case file be made and delivered to Dr. Jide Martins, the director of public prosecution, for legal counsel. She then set a postponement for January 30, 2023 as she awaited legal counsel.
The suspect is accused of killing Raheem, who was pregnant, in the Ajah neighborhood of Lagos state on Christmas Day. She was shot while she was returning home from an outing with her family.
