There’s a storm brewing around President Bola Tinubu’s inner circle. Multiple reports are claiming that two of his top security aides, Chief Security Officer Adegboyega Fasasi and Chief Personal Security Officer Usman Shugaba, have been accused of collecting a staggering $1.5 million bribe.

According to the reports, the payment allegedly came from Abdullahi Bashir-Haske, a businessman who also happens to be former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s son-in-law. The money was said to be a “fee” for easy access to the Presidential Villa, complete with a special tag that bypassed security checks.

This isn’t the first time whispers like this have surfaced. Previous claims suggested that some of Tinubu’s security aides pocketed $500,000 from a Niger Delta militant in exchange for contract promises. If true, it paints a troubling picture of the gatekeepers around Nigeria’s highest office.

For now, though, it’s all still allegations. Neither the Presidency, the EFCC, nor the accused officers have made any official statement. But the story is already sparking conversations about corruption, loyalty, and what really goes on behind closed doors at Aso Rock.
