The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of 85 underage candidates — those who were below 16 years of age as of September 2025 — after completing a comprehensive evaluation process for exceptional admission.
In a statement issued on Monday, JAMB announced that the 85 qualified candidates have been notified to proceed to their respective institutions to finalize their admission and print their individual JAMB admission letters.
The board explained that this category of admission falls under its “exceptional admissions policy,” which aligns with global best practices, treating underage admissions as rare exceptions rather than the norm.
According to the statement, a total of 2,031,133 candidates sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), out of which 41,027 sought consideration under the underage category. Of these, 599 candidates scored at least 80% in the UTME and were subjected to further screening, including school certificate verification and Post-UTME assessments.
Following this process, 182 finalists were shortlisted for final evaluation. After additional interviews and verification, 85 candidates were confirmed to have met all criteria and were cleared for admission.
JAMB also advised any of the 182 finalists who missed the final interview to submit a formal request through the JAMB Support Ticketing System under the new category titled “2025 Underage Complaint.” The board assured that such cases would be individually reviewed and considered strictly on merit.
In a related update, JAMB noted that candidates who scored 320 and above in the UTME but were disqualified for failing to upload their O-Level results now have until October 29, 2025, to upload the required documents and notify the board through the same support system.
Reaffirming its commitment, JAMB emphasized that it remains dedicated to ensuring a credible, transparent, and inclusive admission process while maintaining the integrity and academic standards of Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
