As of October 31, the cross-platform streaming app no longer supports Google purchases.
If you’ve logged into your Movies Anywhere account recently, you may have noticed some titles missing from your library — specifically, movies purchased on Google Play or YouTube. As of October 31, 2025, content from those platforms is no longer available through Movies Anywhere.
The change was noted in a brief help page on the Movies Anywhere website, which states:
“Effective 10/31/25, Google Play/YouTube will no longer participate in the Movies Anywhere program.”
No further explanation was provided for the break-up. Movies that were already synced from a Google account appear to remain accessible, but new purchases from Google Play or YouTube can no longer be added to Movies Anywhere.
Google did not respond to a request for comment, and Disney — which owns Movies Anywhere — also did not immediately respond.
Movies Anywhere first added support for Google Play in 2017, allowing users to consolidate films purchased across multiple services into a single library. That support ends at the same time as several Disney-owned channels went dark on YouTube TV amid an ongoing contract renewal dispute.
Fortunately, you can still watch your Google Play movies directly on YouTube or Google TV, even if they are no longer available through Movies Anywhere.
