Spain showed resilience to secure a 4-1 win over Switzerland in the Nations League, despite being reduced to 10 men. The European champions took an early lead when Joselu headed in a cross from teenager Lamine Yamal, with Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel unable to keep the ball out despite his best efforts.

Switzerland thought they had equalized through Becir Omeragic, but the goal was ruled out by VAR for a handball in the build-up. Spain quickly capitalized on this reprieve, doubling their lead when Fabian Ruiz reacted swiftly to a rebound after Nico Williams’ initial shot was saved.

However, Spain’s momentum took a hit when Robin le Normand was shown a red card midway through the first half for a professional foul on Breel Embolo. Zeki Amdouni came close to scoring from the resulting free-kick, rattling the crossbar.

Amdouni later pulled one back for the Swiss, finishing from close range after a corner. Switzerland pushed hard for an equalizer and had another goal disallowed, but their defensive gaps were exposed as Spain struck twice more in the dying moments. Fabian Ruiz tapped in Ferran Torres’ cross for his second, before substitute Torres calmly slotted in Spain’s fourth to seal the victory.

Elsewhere in the group, Denmark defeated Serbia 2-0 to move to six points. Spain, the defending Nations League champions, had drawn 0-0 with Serbia in their opening game.
