Following the tragic killing of 16 northern travelers, the Kano State Police Command has debunked rumors of an alleged attack on an 18-seater bus carrying Igbo passengers in Kano.
Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna dismissed the viral reports as false and misleading, stressing that an investigation is underway to track the sources behind the misinformation.
“The Kano State Police Command wishes to inform the public that the viral news circulating on social media regarding an attack on an 18-seater bus carrying Igbo passengers in Kano is entirely false and misleading,” SP Haruna stated.
He urged the public to disregard the fake news and avoid spreading unverified claims that could incite panic and disturb public peace.
“We appeal to the public to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious activities or individuals spreading false information to the nearest police station or through our emergency contacts,” he added.
The Kano State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting all residents, regardless of ethnicity or religion, and maintaining peace and security across the state.
