Just found out something interesting about veteran Nollywood actor Segun Arinze. His real name is actually Segun Aina!
In his words, he explained how the name change happened. Back in 1991, he was also into music and got signed by someone from Sony Music. After signing the contract, the label just started referring to him as Segun Arinze—no explanation, no warning.
He said:
“The album came out – Dreams. Everywhere was ‘Segun Arinze’. That’s how the name stuck.”
Apparently, he studied Dramatic Arts at Ife even though his dad wanted him to study Law. At one point, he thought his dad wouldn’t even pay his school fees just because he chose drama.
From Segun Aina the student, to Segun Arinze the music artist, and then the movie legend we all know today — life truly has a funny way of shaping our stories.
