Information from credible sources within the coalition’s inner circle reveals the following developments regarding the opposition alliance:

1. Multiple party platforms are currently under consideration for the proposed coalition. While the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a possible option, it is not the only one on the table. The coalition is planning strategically, with foresight to stay ahead of opposition forces.

2. It has been agreed that all aspirants with presidential ambitions will be allowed to participate in primary elections. This move is designed to mobilize loyal supporters across all six geopolitical zones and build widespread support within the party. The presidential candidate will ultimately be selected through a consensus during the primaries.

3. As part of the agreement, whichever aspirant wins the presidential ticket will serve for only a single term.

4. If Peter Obi emerges as the presidential candidate, Aminu Tambuwal will be named his running mate.

5. If Rotimi Amaechi wins the ticket, Nasir El-Rufai will be his running mate.

6. If Atiku Abubakar emerges as the presidential candidate, Peter Obi will be his running mate.

7. However, reports from the coalition caucus indicate that Peter Obi is currently the favored choice to fly the presidential flag of the coalition.

8. If Atiku Abubakar does not secure the ticket, he will be appointed the National Leader of the party.

9. If Rotimi Amaechi does not emerge as the presidential candidate, he will have the privilege of nominating a candidate for a ministerial position of his choice.

10. If Nasir El-Rufai is not selected as the vice-presidential candidate, he will be appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). After the initial 4-year term, El-Rufai is expected to contest for the presidency, with Rauf Aregbesola as his running mate.

11. If Aminu Tambuwal does not become the running mate, he will return to the National Assembly as President of the Senate.

12. There are strong indications that more governors from both APC and PDP, as well as numerous senators and members of the House of Representatives, will join the coalition closer to the elections.

As the election draws nearer — with just eight months to go — a political shake-up of significant scale is expected to hit the APC, triggering resignations and realignments across the country’s political landscape.
