Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ‘FUBAR’ Canceled at Netflix After Two Seasons

Viewership took a sharp dive — and so did the series.

FUBAR is officially over. The Netflix action-comedy series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger won’t be returning for a third season, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The cancellation comes as no surprise to close observers of the show’s streaming performance. While FUBAR debuted strong in 2023 — grabbing the No. 1 spot on Nielsen’s streaming charts during its first week with 1.53 billion minutes viewed — season two, which dropped earlier this summer, saw a steep drop-off. Between June 9–15, the show tallied just 412 million minutes, a 73 percent decline in viewing time compared to season one.

Despite landing at No. 8 among Netflix’s original shows during its second season’s premiere week, the numbers weren’t enough to justify renewal.

FUBAR featured Arnold Schwarzenegger in his first scripted television lead, playing Luke Brunner, a veteran CIA agent whose world is turned upside down when he discovers his daughter, played by Monica Barbaro, is also an undercover operative. Together, they navigate a chaotic mix of espionage and family dysfunction.

Season two upped the ante with the addition of Carrie-Anne Moss, who portrayed a former flame from Brunner’s past — and a new threat to both his mission and his personal life.

Rounding out the cast were Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, Fabiana Udenio, Aparna Brielle, Guy Burnet, Andy Buckley, Jay Baruchel, Barbara Eve Harris, and Scott Thompson.

The official synopsis for season two teased high stakes:
“Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger) is a veteran CIA operative who, up until recently, was on the verge of retirement. After his last mission — saving another operative who happened to be his daughter (Barbaro) — he’s back on duty, facing a new wave of villains. Chief among them? An old flame from his past (Moss) threatening to destroy the world… or at the very least, his life.”

Moss, reflecting on her time with the show, shared her excitement in an earlier interview with THR:

“Getting to work with Arnold was epic for me,” she said. “I don’t know if I’ve ever had more fun on a job — the action, the dancing, the fights, and the downtime just talking between takes. I loved every minute of it.”
Still, even a stacked cast and star power couldn’t save FUBAR from the harsh realities of streaming metrics.
