Abducted Edo magistrate shot, Policeman killed, during rescue.
In the process of rescuing Mrs. Precious Aigbonoga, president of the Igueben Customary Area Court of Appeal in Edo state, security personnel killed a police officer.
The Judge was shot during her rescue on January 12; she had been abducted on January 9 while traveling to work in the Ugoneki axis in the state’s Uhumwonde LGA.
A joint team of military personnel and police officers from the special anti-kidnapping squad linked to the police headquarters in Benin city carried out the rescue operation at the location where she was being held captive, a place known as scorpion heel inside the forest.
One of the brave police officers was said to have paid the ultimate price as a result of heavy shooting that occurred during the rescue attempt between the police and the robbers.
At an undisclosed hospital, the injured magistrate is currently receiving care.
