How To Practice Real Self Care
Take Extra Care On What You Watch / Read
Dieting is way beyond what goes through your mouth and into your stomach, what about a mental diet? The type of information we digest matters a lot in how we practise self-care, especially in this century where there is an overwhelming amount of information being pushed at us from various corners. If your goal is to have a healthier mind, you might want to start shedding some of those junk information.Learn To Let People Go / Down
You always come first, make sure you keep that in mind, your sanity is more important than the things you prioritize above it. Money, career, opinions, events you promised to attend, your partner’s mood swings, and your family’s expectations. They all come second to your mental health. To practice real self-care, you must try to always remind yourself how much you matter, and if putting yourself first and taking extra care of yourself will offend a couple of people, sadly it’s a little price to pay.Set And Protect Your Boundaries
Learn to stand up for yourself whenever your friends or partners cross that line that affects your integrity. Protect yourself by protecting your boundaries from leeches who do nothing but abuse the privilege. Whenever you stand up for yourself and lose friends, it’s something else gained for you.Only The Future Matters To You Now.
Your mental health will never improve if you keep trying the same thing over again and expecting different results. Stop searching for happiness and peace in the same toxic people and places that you lost it. You have to look forward and move forward.Start Reading Again.
The average person spends up to 9 hours a day, some people spend way more on their favourite social media platforms. Books on the other hand have a very big and positive influence on your mental health, for instance.Social media thrives on the bad news that can go viral, while we encourage you to stay informed, sometimes you just give yourself (your mind) a break and read a book that makes you a better person when you finish reading the chapters. Put good books in your library, and if you can’t get off social media, filter your timeline to follow people that bring the best out of you and not leave you worse off at the end of the day.
Be your cheerleader
If everyone else out there Is talking you down or rejecting you, you owe yourself a lot of encouragement.Stop being afraid to take that leap, whether it is a huge leap or a small one, scared you’ll be turned down in that job application, apply just the same and keep rooting for yourself.
Scared of the unknown when you want to opt-in for studying in a different country, just pray nothing horrible will happen. Whatever your fears are, either valid or not, you owe yourself a confidence boost, and I always say, “Nobody blows my trumpet better than I can”
