The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), formerly known as the United Nations Fund for Population Activities, is now accepting applications for its 2025 Graduate Internship.

Description: Under the supervision of the M&E Specialist, the ICT Intern will support the development of current UNFPA Country Office (CO) ICT projects. The role focuses on building software and automated tools to enhance CO efficiency and performance. An action plan with defined achievements and learning opportunities will be established, with periodic progress meetings to boost the intern’s skills and capacity in line with UNFPA’s mandate and Operations Department.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop scalable, secure, and maintainable applications and tools to:Automate annual work planning, approval, and monitoring processes.
Gather and analyze program administrative data.
Create dashboards and visualizations for program data and results.
Facilitate financial and budget revisions and monitoring.
Prepare system and user documentation for developed applications and tools.
Generate reports on programming project specifications, activities, or status.
Eligibility and Requirements:

Education:Enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (e.g., Master’s or higher) in ICT or a related field.

Enrolled in the final year of a first university degree program (e.g., Bachelor’s) in ICT or a related field.
Recently graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and available to start within one year if selected.
Enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program with the internship as part of it.

Knowledge and Experience:Understanding of the software development life cycle.
Familiarity with the Google Applications environment.
Experience with diverse software development projects.
Proficiency in programming languages.
Creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills.
Strong analytical and writing abilities.
Fluency in English (knowledge of other languages is an asset).
Initiative, sound judgment, and ability to work harmoniously in multicultural settings.
Learning Elements:Enhanced understanding of UNFPA’s programming principles and mandate.
Insight into UNFPA policies, including ICT setup.
Knowledge of operational and program support dynamics.
Familiarity with UN technical language, procedures, and coordination mechanisms.
Skills in writing and formulating substantive documents.

Languages:Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
Financial Aspects:No salary or remuneration is provided by UNFPA.

Costs (e.g., living expenses, accommodation, travel) must be covered by the nominating institution or the intern.
A stipend is available to cover basic daily expenses if not supported by an institution, government, foundation, or scholarship, with amounts varying by duty station.
