According to the Plateau Command of the Federal Route Safety Corps (FRSC), a trailer rammed into 14 vehicles at Zakaliyo on the Jos-Bauchi road, leaving two people dead and 52 others hurt.
Peter Longsan, the command’s commander in charge of public education, disclosed this in a statement on Monday. He added that the collision took place on Sunday night and that braking failure was to blame for it.
“On Sunday at around 5 p.m., a trailer and 14 other cars were involved in a collision near Zakaliyo on the Jos-Bauchi route. There were 54 people engaged, 2 female adults lost their lives, and 52 others suffered injuries of varying severity.
The trailer’s brake failed, causing it to lose control and collide with other cars “.
Longsan stated that the officers from the Jos Bypass Unit and the FRSC ambulance and emergency response team were all dispatched to the scene of the incident.
He said that the injured were transferred to Toro General Hospital and the Plateau Specialist Hospital. “After being declared dead at the hospital, the deceased’s bodies were released to their relatives for burial” he added.
