11 UNILORIN Dons Are Among the Top Authors, and 10 Others Are Among the “Top Scientists”

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has revealed that 11 members of its academic staff were named among the top 500 authors in Nigeria over the previous three years.

This was reported in a separate study that named 10 distinguished UNILORIN experts whose research findings have consistently dominated academia in the university’s weekly bulletin.

It asserted that Elsevier, a well-known academic publishing behemoth with a global reputation, had prepared a replica of the list of highly regarded authors.

“It shown that between 2019 and 2022, 11 prominent UNILORIN academics from diverse departments demonstrated their mettle through high-caliber publications.

According to the breakdown of the study, which was published on December 24, 2022, “among the more than 170 public and private universities functioning in Nigeria, the University of Ilorin accounted for 2.2 percent of the listed publications.”

It was explained that Dr. Adewale Adeniyi, the 2021 UNILORIN Researcher of the Year, is at the head of the pack of these outstanding academic giants. He posted the highest number of publications, with 135 of his scholarly outputs being listed and receiving 2,251 citations.

The university’s vice chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole SAN, responded to the development by praising the teachers’ most recent accomplishment.

He claimed that the report’s inclusion was a testament to the high caliber of services offered by the institution.

All of the university’s academic staff members were reminded by Egbewole to prioritize research and the publication of their findings, as publication continues to be one of the important criteria used to determine an academic’s caliber.
