FG approves N320.3bn intervention fund to tertiary institutions; President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the transfer of N320.3 billion as intervention money for the country’s public tertiary institutions in 2023.

JAMB addresses the exclusion of Muslim students from the CBT center of Covenant University

Sonny Echono, Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, made the announcement in Abuja on Wednesday, April 5, during the Fund’s annual strategic planning session.

According to Echono, each university will receive N1,154,732,133.00, with N954,732,123.00 going for annual direct payment and N200 million going toward zonal intervention. Each polytechnic would receive N699,344,867.00 for annual direct payment and N130million for zonal intervention, while each college of education will receive N800,862,602.00 for annual direct disbursement and N130million for zonal involvement.

He stated that the 2023 fund was the largest distribution that any beneficiary institution has ever received since the Fund’s creation almost 30 years ago.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, David Adejo, advised the beneficiary schools to use the intervention wisely, stating that the country is no longer interested in paper presentations but rather in what one can achieve with his brain and hands.
