Federal Polytechnic Ayede Rector Vacancy 2026. The Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Rector, which will become vacant on 16 March 2026. The appointment is for a single five-year term. Applications must reach the Registrar within six (6) weeks from the date of publication.
Position Overview
The Rector is the Chief Academic, Administrative, and Accounting Officer of the Polytechnic. Responsibilities include overall authority over staff and students, maintaining discipline, and implementing policies under the general control of the Governing Council. The Rector is also one of the Principal Officers of the Polytechnic and must demonstrate both academic and managerial competence.

Eligibility and Academic Requirements
Applicants must meet the following:
Educational Qualifications:
- A Doctorate (PhD) from a recognised institution in a discipline offered in the Polytechnic sector, or any qualification required for appointment as a Chief Lecturer.
- At least a second class lower division degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) with Lower Credit in a relevant Polytechnic discipline.
Experience and Professional Requirements:
- Minimum 17 years teaching experience in tertiary institutions, with at least 10 years in a Polytechnic or similar TVET institution.
- Must be a Chief Lecturer in the Polytechnic sector with at least 5 years at that rank.
- Age limit: Not more than 59 years as at 16 March 2026.
- Evidence of academic and administrative leadership, creativity, and good human relations.
- Membership in a professional body recognised by the Federal Government.
- Scholarly publications in reputable journals and presentations at educational conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Ability to attract research grants and development facilities.
- Proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
- Physically and mentally fit, with certification from a Government hospital.
- Must be impartial and not pursue racial, gender, political, religious, or sectional interests.
Terms of Appointment
- Tenure: Single term of five (5) years.
- Salary and benefits: Consolidated salary and allowances applicable to Principal Officers of Federal Polytechnics, as approved by the Federal Government.
