Enugu Varsity Instructs Students To Wear Uniforms
Christian Anieke, the university’s vice-chancellor, announced this on Tuesday when speaking to employees and students returning from the Christmas and New Year holidays.
All students, according to Aneke, should wear their faculty uniforms with appropriate ties and shoes.
“No student is required to wear slippers, tough jeans, colored hair, long fingers, fez hats, or false eyelashes,” he said.
Mr Anieke expressed sadness that most students and staff wear t-shirts with unauthorized inscriptions, in violation of the school’s dress code, and asked male pupils to properly comb or shave their hair.
The vice-chancellor disclosed that the university’s management had implemented qualitative assessments of all teaching and non-teaching employees.
“Principal officers of the institutions will now visit the lecture halls to assess the academic staff’s lectures, while non-teaching personnel will submit their roll calls at the start and end of each day’s activities,” Mr Anieke explained. “Students who do not attend lectures will not be permitted to sit for exams.”
He announced that the institution’s 14th matriculation will take place on January 27, emphasizing that female matriculants would not be permitted to wear shoes taller than four cm. Males must dress in a suit with a matching tie.
