BUK Releases SUG Election Timetable for 2025/2026 Academic Session; The Bayero University Kano Independent Electoral Commission (BUKIECO) has officially released the timetable for the conduct of the 2025/2026 Student Union Government (SUG) elections.
According to an official notice dated 3rd January 2026 and signed by the Chairman of BUKIECO, Anwar Usman Hassan, all preparations have been completed for the election exercise. The entire process will be conducted at the BUKIECO Office, in strict compliance with approved electoral guidelines.
Schedule of Activities
Sale of Nomination Forms
Nomination forms will be available for purchase from Monday, 5th January to Thursday, 15th January 2026. Sales will take place daily between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the BUKIECO Office.
Screening of Candidates
Screening of all aspiring candidates is scheduled to hold from Friday, 16th January to Sunday, 18th January 2026, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily, also at the BUKIECO Office.
Election Day
The SUG election will be conducted on Thursday, 22nd January 2026.
Important Notice to Aspirants and Students
BUKIECO has advised all interested aspirants to obtain and submit their nomination forms within the stipulated timeframe and to strictly comply with all screening requirements. The commission also encouraged students and relevant stakeholders to participate actively to ensure a transparent, orderly, and credible election process.
The commission further emphasized that any activity conducted outside the approved dates, time, or venue will not be recognized.
