AUN President’s Statement Dr. DeWayne P. Frazier, President of AUN, emphasized that these scholarships aim to encourage young Nigerians to pursue their first degrees within the country, offering global-standard education at a fraction of the cost of studying abroad. He expressed gratitude to AUN parents and alumni for their support, which has been vital to the university’s success.

Impact on Local Communities The scholarships aim to ease financial burdens on AUN parents and increase local enrollment in critical fields like Nursing, Public Health, and Engineering. This effort is particularly significant for the northeast region, aiding its recovery from longstanding challenges.

AUN’s Legacy Established in 2003 by former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar, AUN educates students from Nigeria and other African countries across diverse disciplines. It currently offers 33 majors and 14 minors across seven schools, fostering a unique American-style liberal arts education.

Graduate Scholarships Starting fall 2024, graduate students will receive a 50% tuition fee remission under the 20th anniversary scholarships. This applies to programs such as AUN/UNICEF M.Sc. in Communication for Social and Behavior Change, MBA, and Professional Master in Information and Communication Science, as well as regular Masters and doctoral degrees in fields like Software Engineering and Business and Entrepreneurship.

AUN’s Distinctive Approach AUN’s education model emphasizes community impact, preparing students like alumni Gwaha Madwate for leadership roles and international scholarships. Mr. Madwate, a Mandela Rhodes and MasterCard Foundation Scholar, credits AUN for nurturing service-driven leaders.
