Apply Now: 2025 Commonwealth Startup Fellowship; Applications are officially open for the 2025 Commonwealth Startup Fellowship—a fully-funded, six-month programme designed to support emerging businesses across Commonwealth nations, with a special focus on those in low and middle-income countries.
What to Expect
The fellowship kicks off in November 2025 with an intensive two-week bootcamp in Accra, Ghana. One founder from each selected startup will attend the bootcamp in person, while co-founders and other team members can join virtually. The programme features expert-led sessions and tailored coaching, all aimed at helping startups scale effectively and sustainably.
But the support doesn’t end there. Fellows will continue to receive virtual assistance through:
- One-on-one mentorship
- Industry-led workshops
- Peer learning opportunities with fellow entrepreneurs across the Commonwealth
Financial Support Available
Fellows will have access to grant funding from a shared £35,000 Fellows Fund. This grant is non-repayable and requires no equity exchange. Startups can use the funding for critical needs such as product development, marketing, or team expansion.
Additionally, selected fellows will be invited to a Capstone event in London, UK, where they’ll pitch their startups to investors and key stakeholders in the global business ecosystem.
Who Can Apply?
To qualify for the fellowship, applicants must:
- Hold at least a university degree
- Be a citizen or refugee from an eligible Commonwealth country
- Live full-time in that country
- Be proficient in spoken and written English
- Not have participated in a Commonwealth Professional Fellowship in the last five years
- Be available to join from the official programme start date
Startups must also meet the following criteria:
- Have a working prototype or service
- Show at least six months of consistent development
- Demonstrate clear customer interest (e.g., early sales, pre-orders, or signed contracts)
- Present a novel solution to a real-world problem
