ACES Scholarships 2024. The ACES Education Fund offers six prestigious scholarships annually to students who excel in critical thinking and aspire to careers in editing. These scholarships are awarded to college/university juniors, seniors, or graduate students who demonstrate a strong interest in editing as a career.

About the ACES Scholarships:
The ACES Scholarships, administered by the ACES Education Fund, are designed to support students who show exceptional skill in critical thinking about written materials and have a passion for editing. Among the six scholarships awarded annually, the most prestigious is the Bill Walsh Scholarship, which honors the late editor and guiding spirit of ACES.

Eligibility:
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled as college/university juniors, seniors, or graduate students at the time of the application deadline.
- Have a strong interest in pursuing a career in editing.
- Be eligible regardless of nationality, residence, or academic concentration.
- Note: Previous winners, ACES Board members, administrators, or their families are not eligible.
Selection Process:
- The selection process consists of two rounds:
- First Round (December): Finalists are chosen based on their applications.
- Second Round (January): Finalists take a timed editing test. The test results are combined with the applicants’ portfolios, and the final winners are selected by two separate judging panels.
Eligible Countries:
- No nationality or residence restrictions for the ACES Scholarships.
Award Location:
- The scholarship does not require physical relocation. However, winners are eligible for aid to attend the ACES annual in-person national conference.
Number of Awards:
- Six scholarships are awarded annually.
Value of the Award:
- Five ACES Scholarships:
- Four awards of $1,500 each.
- One Aubespin Scholarship of $2,500.
- Bill Walsh Scholarship:
- $3,500.
- All six winners are also eligible for aid to attend the ACES annual in-person national conference.
Duration of the Award:
- One-time award for the academic year.
