ABU Admission Update 2026/2027: 20 Courses with Full Quotas and Available Alternatives

ABU Admission Update 2026/2027. Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has announced that admission quotas for 20 undergraduate programmes have been filled for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The university has advised UTME and Direct Entry candidates to stop requesting changes into the affected programmes and consider other courses with available admission spaces.

ABU has also asked candidates whose admission processing is delayed because their O’Level results are missing from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal to visit accredited JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres and upload their results.

Candidates should check their subject combinations and O’Level qualifications carefully before requesting a change of programme.

ABU Courses with Filled Admission Quotas for 2026/2027

According to the university’s admission update, the quotas for the following 20 programmes have been exhausted:

  1. Architecture
  2. Medicine and Surgery (MBBS)
  3. Dental Surgery

  20. Mass Communication

Candidates who have already undergone screening for any of these programmes but have not received admission are advised to consider other suitable courses.

ABU has warned that applications to change into programmes with exhausted or limited admission spaces will not be entertained. Applicants should therefore confirm that their preferred alternative still has available capacity before making a change.

ABU Change of Course and Institution Still Open

ABU is still accepting eligible programme changes within the university and from candidates seeking to transfer their admission choice from other institutions.

However, a change of programme does not automatically guarantee admission. Candidates must satisfy the relevant admission requirements, including the correct JAMB subject combination and O’Level qualifications.

The university has provided alternative programme suggestions based on candidates’ UTME subject combinations.

Alternative Courses at ABU Based on JAMB Subject Combinations

ABU Directs Recommended Candidates to Upload O’Level Results

ABU has instructed candidates recommended for admission by their faculties to ensure that their O’Level results are uploaded to the JAMB portal.

The instruction particularly affects Direct Entry candidates whose admission processing has been delayed because their results are missing from the system.

Affected candidates should:

  1. Visit a nearby JAMB-accredited CBT centre.
  2. Request the upload of their O’Level results to the JAMB portal.
  3. Confirm that the results are correctly reflected on their JAMB profile.

The university warned that failure to complete the upload could result in the loss of an admission opportunity. Candidates were specifically advised to use accredited JAMB CBT centres rather than roadside cafés.

ABU Course Options for Candidates with O’Level Deficiencies

The university has also provided alternative programme suggestions for candidates who do not meet the O’Level subject requirements for their preferred courses.

However, candidates with an English Language deficiency are not eligible for admission into any ABU programme under the stated admission guidance.

Candidates with deficiencies in other subjects may be considered for alternative programmes, depending on their remaining O’Level credits and UTME subject combinations.
