COOU Gets NUC Approval for 15 New Academic Programmes; The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for 15 academic programmes.
The announcement was made by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, on Thursday, 24 September 2026, during the University’s 35th Inaugural Lecture held at the ETF Auditorium.
The Vice-Chancellor addressed the gathering virtually while announcing the approval of the new programmes.
NUC Approval Followed Resource Verification
The approval followed a resource verification exercise conducted by the National Universities Commission.
As part of the approval process, the NUC deployed a team to the university to verify the infrastructure, facilities and other resources required for the commencement of academic activities in the programmes.
The successful verification has paved the way for COOU to begin admitting students into the newly approved programmes.
List of the 15 Newly Approved COOU Programmes
According to the university, the 15 programmes approved by the NUC are:
- B.Sc. International Relations
- B. Rad. Radiography
- B.Sc. Software Engineering
- B.Sc. Cyber Security
- B.Sc. Data Science
- B.Sc. Public Health
- B.Sc. Project Management
- B.Sc. Logistics and Supply Chain Management
- B.Sc. Transport Management
- B.Sc. Taxation
- B.Sc. Procurement
- B.Sc. Information Technology
- B.EHS. Environmental Health Sciences
- OD Optometry
- D.PT. Physiotherapy
The programmes cover fields across areas such as health sciences, technology, computing, management, social sciences and professional disciplines.
COOU to Commence Admissions into New Programmes
Speaking on the development, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha said the university would begin the process of admitting students into the newly approved programmes without unnecessary delay.
Prospective students interested in the programmes are expected to monitor the university’s official admission information for details about the admission process and specific requirements for each programme.
