EBSU Gets NUC Approval for 7 New Health Science Programmes for 2026/2027. Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to introduce seven new Health Science programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval expands the range of health-related programmes available to prospective students at EBSU, with new options covering Physiotherapy, Optometry, Radiography, Public Health, Community Health and other areas of healthcare.
The university is under the leadership of Prof. M. U. Awoke.

1. Doctor of Physiotherapy
Doctor of Physiotherapy is one of the two programmes on the approved list carrying a Doctor title.
The programme will provide prospective EBSU students with another option for pursuing a professional career in physiotherapy from the 2026/2027 academic session.
2. Doctor of Optometry
NUC has also approved Doctor of Optometry for EBSU.
It is the second programme on the list carrying a Doctor title and gives students interested in optometry another health science programme to consider at the university.
3. Bachelor of Radiography and Radiation Science
Bachelor of Radiography and Radiation Science is another newly approved EBSU programme.
The programme is focused on an area of healthcare involving medical imaging and radiation science and will be available as part of EBSU’s expanded Health Science programme options for 2026/2027.
4. Bachelor of Health Information Management
Bachelor of Health Information Management has also received NUC approval.
