Federal University of Lafia announces job vacancies; The Federal University of Lafia has announced that the position of University Librarian will become vacant on July 2, 2026. The university is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates.
Vacancy: University Librarian
Position and Responsibilities
The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the university and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the overall administration of the University Library system. The ideal candidate must demonstrate visionary leadership, strong personal integrity, and the ability to command respect among staff.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a professionally qualified and practicing librarian or academic.
- Must possess a good honours degree and a PhD in Library and Information Science (or an equivalent qualification), with at least 15 years of relevant experience.
- Must have attained the rank of Deputy Librarian or Professor of Library Science in a university.
- Must have a strong record of research and publications in reputable journals.
- Must be a registered member of the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
- Must be computer literate and proficient in relevant applications.
Age Requirement
Applicants must not be above 60 years of age by July 2, 2026.
Vacancy: University Bursar
The Federal University of Lafia has also announced that the position of Bursar will be vacant on May 5, 2026. Applications are invited from qualified individuals.
Position and Responsibilities
The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the university and is responsible for the day-to-day administration and control of the institution’s financial affairs. The candidate must be capable of coordinating strategic financial plans and maintaining accurate records of assets and liabilities.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Must possess a good honours degree in Accounting; a higher degree will be an added advantage.
- Must be a qualified member of a recognized professional body such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or an equivalent.
- Must have a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 10 years in the university system.
- Must have attained the rank of Senior Deputy Bursar or have served as Deputy Bursar for at least 5 years.
- Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of accounting packages.
Age Requirement
Applicants must not be above 60 years of age by May 5, 2026.
