Nigeria Higher Education Foundation Applications for 2026 Graduate Doctors Program; The Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) has opened applications for the 2026 NHEF Graduate Doctors Program.
The programme is a leadership and professional development initiative designed for post-housemanship doctors transitioning into full professional medical practice. According to NHEF, the programme offers a curated and immersive learning experience for early-career medical professionals, equipping them with the knowledge, perspective, and professional networks needed to work effectively within Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
Who Can Apply
The programme is open only to graduate medical doctors from NHEF partner universities, which include:
- Ahmadu Bello University
- Bayero University Kano
- University of Ibadan
- University of Lagos
- University of Nigeria
- University of Port Harcourt
Applicants must have completed their housemanship before applying.
Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is not mandatory. Doctors who have completed NYSC, those currently serving, and those who are yet to begin their service year are all eligible to apply.
Applicants are also expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to community service, philanthropy, and a desire to make a lasting impact in society.
Programme Dates and Venue
The application deadline for the programme is 23 March 2026 at 11:59 P.M. WAT.
The orientation programme will take place between Tuesday, 7 July and Saturday, 11 July 2026.

What Successful Candidates Will Receive
The Nigeria Higher Education Foundation will cover the following expenses for all successful applicants:
