Nigerian Women Association of Georgia Applications for 2026 Scholarship Awards; The Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG), based in the United States, has opened applications for its 2026 Scholarship Awards.

The organisation will award 111 one-time scholarships to female undergraduate students currently studying in Nigerian universities. The awards will be distributed across the country, with three slots allocated to each state of origin and three slots for the Federal Capital Territory.

Scholarship Award Amounts

NWAG has set three award categories for the winners:

  • Winner: $300
  • First Runner-Up: $150
  • Second Runner-Up: $100

All scholarship payments will be made in the Naira equivalent.

Who Can Apply

The scholarship is open to female undergraduate students enrolled in Nigerian universities.

However, final-year students are not eligible to apply. Applicants are advised to confirm their eligibility before starting the application process.

Documents Required for the NWAG Scholarship Application

Applicants must submit a completed application form along with the required supporting documents.

Proof of State of Origin

Applicants must provide a letter of origination issued by their university or a local government office.

Recommendation Letters

Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from any two of the following individuals:

  • Pastor or Imam
  • Village Head
  • Local Government Chairperson
  • University Lecturer or Head of Department

Academic Recommendation

Applicants must also submit one academic recommendation letter from the Dean of Faculty or the Head of Department of their school.

Means of Identification

A photocopy of the current university student identification card is required.

Passport Photograph

Applicants must submit a recent passport photograph.

Personal Statement

Each applicant must include a personal statement not exceeding half a typed page, explaining why they need and deserve the scholarship.

Essay Submission

Applicants are required to submit a two-page, double-spaced, typewritten essay on the topic provided by NWAG.

Essay Topic and AI Use Rule

The essay topic is:

“How can Nigeria harness renewable energy and sustainable practices to create jobs and drive economic growth?”

NWAG states that applicants may use artificial intelligence tools for up to 25 percent of the essay. The remaining 75 percent must clearly reflect the applicant’s original ideas and voice.

Excessive use of AI tools may lead to disqualification.
