NUC Approves Two New Engineering Programmes for Federal University Wukari; The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for the establishment of two new full-time undergraduate engineering programmes at the Federal University Wukari (FUWukari), Taraba State.
The approval was conveyed in an official letter signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Commission. According to the letter, the approval followed a successful resource assessment visit conducted by a panel of experts to the university.
Newly Approved Engineering Programmes at FUWukari
The newly approved programmes are:
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Civil Engineering
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering
Effective Academic Session and Mode of Study
According to the approval communiqué referenced NUC/AP/F31/VOL.I/79 and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, the programmes are approved to run at the Main Campus of the Federal University Wukari, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.
The NUC clarified that the approval is strictly for the full-time mode of study. The university is required to seek and obtain separate approval from the Commission before introducing any part-time option for the programmes.
Conditions Attached to the Approval
The Commission further directed the university to maintain the approved programme titles and nomenclature, stating that any modification would require its express authorization.
In addition, the Federal University Wukari has been urged to ensure the availability of adequate human and material resources to support the sustainable development and effective delivery of the new engineering programmes.
