NBTE Grants Full Accreditation and Approves New Programmes for AAPOLY. Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo (AAPOLY), has received fresh approvals from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), covering both full accreditation for existing programmes and approval to introduce new academic offerings.
The approvals followed an accreditation and resource verification exercise conducted by NBTE officials at the institution between 3 and 6 November 2025.
Programmes Granted Full Accreditation
NBTE has granted full accreditation, valid for a period of five years, to the following programmes:
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology option)
- National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in Urban and Regional Planning
According to the Board, the accreditations were awarded after a comprehensive evaluation of the polytechnic’s facilities, academic staff strength, learning resources, and students’ academic records.
Newly Approved Programmes
In addition to full accreditation, NBTE approved AAPOLY to commence new programmes at both ND and HND levels. The newly approved courses are:
- ND Public Administration
- HND Strategic Communication and Media Studies
- HND Film and Multimedia Production
- HND Marketing
- HND Networking and Cloud Computing
- HND Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (Power and Machines option)
- HND Science Laboratory Technology (Chemistry option)
- HND Computer Engineering Technology
These programmes span key areas including technology, applied sciences, management, media, and creative disciplines.
NBTE Advisory on Accreditation
NBTE advised the polytechnic to formally invite the Board for full accreditation of the newly approved programmes when due. The Board warned that failure to meet this requirement within the stipulated timeframe could result in the withdrawal of approval to admit students into the affected courses.
The Board further explained that its accreditation process involves detailed inspections of classrooms, laboratories, libraries, equipment, staff records, and teaching materials. During the November 2025 visit, the assessment team evaluated the institution’s infrastructure, staff capacity, equipment quality, and academic procedures.
Rector’s Response
Reacting to the development, the Rector of the polytechnic, Engr. Mobolaji Onasanya, expressed appreciation to NBTE for the confidence reposed in the institution. He also commended members of staff for their consistent efforts in meeting and sustaining the required academic and infrastructural standards.
According to him, the approvals reaffirm the institution’s commitment to quality teaching and practical-oriented learning. He added that students will benefit from a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on training designed to reflect real-world professional environments.

The newly accredited and approved programmes are expected to attract increased interest from prospective applicants in the current and future admission cycles. The expansion also aligns with the polytechnic’s broader objective of widening its course offerings while maintaining high standards in teaching and learning.
