NMU Introduces Mandatory Continuous Assessment Within Two Weeks of Resumption

NMU Introduces Mandatory Continuous Assessment Within Two Weeks of Resumption; The Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, Delta State, has issued a new academic directive requiring all lecturers to conduct at least one continuous assessment (CA) test within the first two weeks of students’ resumption.

This decision was approved during the University Senate’s 25th Meeting held on 9th July 2025. According to the institution, the move is aimed at promoting increased academic seriousness among both lecturers and students.

An internal memorandum from the Office of the Registrar, dated 17th November 2025, confirmed that all CA tests must be conducted physically on campus. Lecturers are further required to submit the test results immediately to their respective Heads of Department.

The memo also states that lecturers must give students a minimum of two days’ notice before administering any test. This directive applies to both semesters of the academic session, ensuring consistent assessment and improved academic monitoring throughout the year.
