FUOYE Governing Council Appoints New Vice Chancellor; The Governing Council of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has announced the appointment of Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, a renowned scholar in Soil Ecosystem, as the new Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Professor Ogunwole, who currently serves as the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Strategic Partnership, Research, Innovation and Linkages, will succeed Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina as the fifth substantive Vice Chancellor of FUOYE in February 2026.
According to a statement by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede, the appointment was approved during a meeting of the Governing Council held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, under the chairmanship of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN.
The statement reads in part:
“Today, Thursday, November 6, 2025, brings to an end a very long and difficult process of getting a new Vice Chancellor for FUOYE.”
It further noted that the selection process began in August following a public advertisement for the position.
Senator Ndoma-Egba commended all stakeholders for their patience and urged members of the university community to put aside differences and work together with the new Vice Chancellor.
“The appointment of a new Vice Chancellor has brought with it rancour and acrimony within and outside the campus. I advise that by this appointment, all these should stop. All applicants should sheathe their swords and join the new Vice Chancellor to build the university,” he said.
The Pro-Chancellor also commended the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, for his exemplary leadership and remarkable achievements.
“You are going out with confidence and your head held high. I congratulate you. You tower above your predecessors, particularly in the area of infrastructural development,” Senator Ndoma-Egba remarked.
He expressed appreciation to members of the Governing Council for their commitment, diligence, and support throughout the selection process.
The meeting concluded with the formal presentation of the letter of appointment to Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole.
