UNIPORT Postgraduate Admission Form 2025/2026. The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into various postgraduate programs for the 2025/2026 academic session. Below are the details of the available programs, requirements, and application process.

A. FACULTY OF HUMANITIES

All Humanities Ph.D programs require a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale, and candidates must score at least 60% in the admission interview to be admissible.

Candidates deficient in speaking, reading, or writing an African language must take an appropriate course in the Department of Linguistics and Communication Studies and provide proof of passing.

At least a Second Class Honours Degree (Lower Division) or equivalent in relevant subjects. Non-History candidates (except Archaeology/Cultural Heritage Management) must complete the PGD program first.

Qualifications for Ph.D. Admission:

An MA/M.Sc Degree with a CGPA of 3.50 and above on a 5-point scale in History. Non-History candidates must complete the PGD program. Candidates must submit a thesis proposal and score 60% in an oral interview.

C. FACULTY OF EDUCATION (FULL-TIME, PART-TIME, AND SANDWICH)

M.Ed and Ph.D. programs are offered on Full-Time and Part-Time bases; M.Ed Sandwich is a Long Vacation program. Ph.D. candidates must have a good M.Ed Degree and pass a pre-admission oral interview defending their proposals. All Master’s candidates need at least a Second Class Honours Degree (Lower Division).
