UNILAG Honours 43 Law Graduates Who Achieved First-Class Honours at 2024 NLS Bar Examinations; The Faculty of Law, University of Lagos (UNILAG), on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, celebrated forty-three (43) of its outstanding alumni who bagged First-Class Honours at the 2024 Nigerian Law School Bar Examinations.
This remarkable feat, one of the highest recorded by any university in Nigeria, was honoured in a special ceremony held at the Faculty’s Boardroom. The event was graced by the honorees, faculty members, students, and notable alumni, including the Hon. Minister, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and Professor Oyelowo Oyewo, SAN.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and Research), Professor Bola Oboh, praised the Faculty for its continued tradition of excellence. She described the achievement as a testament to UNILAG’s enduring academic culture and commitment to producing globally competitive graduates.
Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Abiola Sanni, SAN, commended the graduates’ performance as “stellar and reflective of the Faculty’s rigorous academic standards.” He also shared updates on new developments, including a strategic partnership between UNILAG and the University of Dundee, United Kingdom.
In their goodwill messages, Dr. Oduwole and Professor Oyewo charged the new lawyers to uphold professionalism, integrity, and service to the nation, while remaining loyal ambassadors of UNILAG.
The highlight of the ceremony was the formal recognition of the 43 honorees, each receiving a commemorative medal and congratulatory handshake from Dr. Oduwole and Professor Oboh — a symbolic gesture celebrating both personal and institutional achievement.
Alumni Association Unveils New Initiatives
The event also provided a platform for the UNILAG Alumni Association to unveil bold new initiatives aimed at strengthening the university community.
Alumni President Worldwide, Engr. Ife Oyedele, FNSE, announced the forthcoming launch of the UNILAG Alumni App, a digital platform designed to connect graduates across generations and foster mentorship, collaboration, and institutional support.
He described the app as a “vibrant digital ecosystem” that celebrates alumni achievements, fosters intergenerational mentorship, and supports a legacy of impact.
Engr. Oyedele also revealed plans for a modern 1,800-bed hostel facility, a major infrastructure project intended to enhance student welfare.
Drawing inspiration from global institutions, he encouraged the new lawyers to remain connected to the alumni network and actively contribute to the university’s continued growth and excellence.
